Your Meesho dashboard says 0% returns. Here's why that's a lie.
Returns never appear in Meesho's order report. They only exist in the payout sheet, a month later. Every free dashboard reads the wrong file, and reports zero.

We ran one real July payout sheet through the popular free Meesho dashboards. Every one of them reported the same thing: zero returns.
The seller had five.
Where returns actually live
Meesho gives sellers two files, and this is the part almost nobody realises: they do not contain the same information.
The order report is a CSV you download from the Orders page. It has one row per order and a column called Reason for Credit Entry. That column only ever holds three values, DELIVERED, CANCELLED, RTO_COMPLETE.
There is no RETURNED.
Not because returns do not happen, but because of when the file is generated. An order is marked delivered the day it reaches the customer. The customer then has days or weeks to send it back. By the time that return is processed, the order report has long since said "delivered" and it never goes back to correct itself.
The payout sheet is different. It is an Excel file from the Payments page, and it has a column called Live Order Status. That one does say Return. It is the only place in the entire Meesho ecosystem where a return is recorded.
Beta, order report bolta hai delivered. Paisa waala sheet bolta hai return. Dono padho, warna aadha sach dikhega.
What the tools do wrong
Every dashboard we tested reads the order report first and treats the payout sheet as decoration, useful for money, ignored for status.
So an order that shipped, arrived, and came back gets classified from the CSV as delivered, and its −₹175 return shipping charge quietly disappears into the revenue column.
The tool is not broken. It is reading the file that cannot possibly know.
What it costs
Here is the same seller's month, read properly:
Their six other products made ₹984 between them that month. Returns took most of it.
And the worst offender, TUMB-001, appeared on the dashboard as "3 delivered, 0 returns" with a revenue figure of −₹525. Three delivered orders, no returns, and negative revenue. There was no explanation offered anywhere, because there is no explanation, the number is a delivered order and a returned order added together.
How to check yours in five minutes
You do not need a tool for this. Open your own payout sheet:
- Meesho panel → Payments → download the payout file for last month
- Open the Order Payments tab
- Row 1 is a category band, row 2 is the real header, row 3 is a formula legend, not data, ignore it
- Filter column H,
Live Order Status, forReturn - Count the rows
That number is your real return count. Compare it to whatever your dashboard is telling you.
If you sum the Final Settlement Amount column without deleting row 3 first, every total you
get will be wrong. That row is Meesho explaining its own formula, and spreadsheet software
happily adds it in as if it were an order.
The rule that fixes it
One line, and three separate bugs disappear:
When an order appears in both files, the payout sheet's status wins.
The order report is still useful, it is the only place you learn about cancellations, and it covers orders that have not settled yet. But for anything that has settled, the payout sheet is the truth and the CSV is a stale snapshot.
